Kulturhuset
Since its opening in 1974 Kulturhuset has offered culture in all imaginable shapes. Last year Kulturhuset had 3 million visits and we can promise you that no matter who you are, where you come from, whether you are old or young there is something for you.
See exhibitions of photography, art and design. Listen to music, see dance and theatre performances and meet writers. Read papers and magazines from all over the world and visit the only library for Comics and Graphic Novels in Sweden. Here you will find a meeting ground for young culture. Buy Swedish design or a book in one of the shops, have a coffee, play a game of chess or take the weight off your feet and enjoy the view of the city laid out below you.
Since 2006 Kulturhuset is concentrating a large part of its exhibition activities on photography and video art through its platform ViPS – Video Photography Stockholm. Here we display Swedish and international photography, including photographic history as well as the latest developments. Discussions are also held in the form of seminars, workshops and lectures.
Selected exhibitions: Gisèle Freund (2000), Mary Ellen Mark (2000), Anton Corbijn (2002), Louise Bourgeois (2002), Cindy Sherman (2004), Yoko Ono (2004), Walker Evans (2006), Sally Mann (2007), Nobuyoshi Araki (2007), Martin Parr (2007), AES+F (2008), Nan Goldin (2008), Shirin Neshat (2009).
